The TPP, signed by 12 countries the fourth of February 2016, is a part of the model implemented since the middle of the 80’s with the creation of GATT, which assumes that increased world trade will benefit everyone though generating economic growth. Nevertheless, with the experience from world trade liberalization at an international level and NAFTA at the regional, what we have seen is a number decreasing of transnational corporations which have increasing power in the world economy in general and in the food production in particular. In this article it is illustrated that, based on the actual text of the Transpacific Agreement, from the perspective of the Mexican agriculture, in case of being ratified, the TPP will benefit these same transnational corporations, amplifying their dominance, in addition to the big scale farmers often heavily subsidized applying developed technology on an intense production, in no way sustainable from an environmental perspective.
