| Description: | El objetivo de este trabajo de investigación es identificar opciones para la sustitución de importaciones en la industria manufacturera argentina. Se utiliza una metodología cuantitativa que permite detallar oportunidades de sustitución a nivel producto con un alto nivel de desagregación. Los resultados dan cuenta de la existencia de amplias oportunidades de sustitución de importaciones que están mayormente desaprovechadas. Aprovechar estas oportunidades mejoraría no sólo la balanza de pagos, sino también contribuiría a la difusión de conocimiento en el conjunto de la economía, ya que las oportunidades se concentran en sectores intensivos en tecnología. Se trata de evidencias relevantes de cara a la formulación e implementación de políticas industriales, sobre todo en el escenario que se abrió a partir de la pandemia de COVID-19. This work aims to identify opportunities for import substitution in the Argentinian manufacturing industry. We use a quantitative methodology that allows us to find substitution opportunities at the product level with a high degree of disaggregation. The results show the existence of wide opportunities for import substitution. Taking advantage of these opportunities would not only improve the balance of payments but would also contribu te to the diffusion of knowledge throughout the economy since the opportunities are concentrated in technology-intensive sectors. This is relevant evidence for the formulation and implementation of industrial policy, especially in the scenario that has opened from the COVID-19 pandemic. |
