| dc.description | Los pueblos indígenas en el subcontinente latinoamericano se están haciendo presentes. Se hacen presentes al interior de sus Estados y sociedades y a nivel internacional, en las cumbres, empezando por Río 1992 y pasando por conferencias sobre el clima, biodiversidad, etc.; y en sus estructuras específicas al interior de las Naciones Unidas (ONU). Los derechos colectivos reconocidos a nivel internacional —a través de la Convención 169 de la Organización Internacional de Trabajo (OIT) y de la Declaración de la ONU sobre los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas— y promulgados en muchas constituciones y leyes en los diferentes países latinoamericanos, respaldan este proceso. Ya desde la segunda mitad del siglo pasado, levantan su voz a través de sus organizaciones y a través de representantes individuales. Entraron en debates y diálogos con sus gobiernos nacionales, en negociaciones con empresas sobre todo tipo de actividad extractiva y, se posicionaron en debates internacionales. | es_ES |
