| Description: | En la provincia del Azuay, la promoción de la agroecología aparece como el símbolo del renacimiento de la agricultura familiar en el contexto migratorio regional. Entre los cambios en el uso del suelo y el mejoramiento de la economía campesina, asistimos a una mutación profunda de la ruralidad azuaya. Sin embargo, en vez de un verdadero modelo de desarrollo territorial rural, mejor vale hablar de resistencia territorial porque las redes comerciales regionales funcionan con debilidades y no permiten la integración de una mayoría de campesinos. A pesar de una experiencia alentadora, falta todavía una visión ambiciosa que permita una vinculación más estrecha entre lo rural y lo urbano y una inserción facilitada de los campesinos más pobres. In the Ecuadorian province of Azuay, agro-ecology seems to signal towards the rebirth of family agriculture in a context of regional migration. Given changes in land usage and the improvement of peasant economies, we envisage a profound mutation in the rural landscape of Azuay. Notwithstanding, in lieu of a true model of territorial rural development, the term territorial resistance is used as weak regional commercial networks do not allow an adequate integration of a majority of peasants, evidencing the need for a more ambitious vision that takes into account the close ties between rural and urban areas, to assist the insertion of poor peasant farmers into commercial agriculture. |
