| Description: | Este artículo explora las fantasías sociales y leyendas populares que emergieron luego de que el avión
que llevaba a los jóvenes jugadores de fútbol del Alianza Lima se estrelló contra el Océano Pacífico,
a cinco minutos de su aterrizaje en la ciudad de Lima, Perú, el 8 de diciembre de 1987. Se centra
en los mártires de esta tragedia y, específicamente, en las distintas historias que surgieron sobre el
hecho. Como revelan las narrativas de las entrevistas, las interpretaciones sobre el desastre se construyen
a partir de significaciones sobre políticos corruptos, traficantes de droga y la Armada peruana.
El artículo ubica a la tragedia dentro del dramático contexto social y político del Perú de los
años 1980s, marcado por la crisis económica, la corrupción, la violencia política y la desesperanza.
Como conclusión, argumentamos que las respuestas a ese incidente de parte de los hinchas del club,
abrieron la oportunidad para expresar públicamente profundas diferencias políticas y culturales que
vive el Perú contemporáneo. This article explores the fantasies and legends that emerged when a plane carrying the young football team of Alianza Lima crashed into the Pacific Ocean a few minutes before landing in the capital city of Lima, Peru on December 8, 1987. It focuses on the martyrs of this crash and, more specifically, the stories and versions of history that emerged in its wake. As the narrative reveals, these interpretations laid blame for the disaster on corrupt politicians, drug traffickers, and the Peruvian Navy. The article locates this tragedy in the dramatic social and political context of Peru in the 1980s, which was marked by economic crisis, corruption, political violence and despair. Finally, we argue that the responses that this incident provoked among soccer fans offered them an opportunity to express the much deeper cultural and political differences present in contemporary Peru. |
