Description:	En este artículo se argumenta que el carácter multidimensional y entrelazado de la reciente crisis global se basa en la tensión entre un sistema social basado en la expansión económica infinita y una biosfera con límites finitos, una tensión que es inherente a la formación capitalista. En un primer paso argumental, se discuten los límites de la acumulación capitalista en relación con un paradigma de desarrollo que depende de la extracción creciente de combustibles fósiles y otros recursos naturales. En un segundo paso, se discute si un “enverdecimiento de la economía” podría contribuir a resolver la crisis epocal del capitalismo. Por último, algunas áreas políticas se identifican en la inversión pública como áreas que, al menos, podrían ayudar a promover un futuro socialmente justo y ambientalmente sostenible. Sin embargo, políticas “verdes progresivas” en áreas como el manejo de residuos sólidos o la agricultura no serán suficientes para hacer frente a la crisis epocal del capitalismo. En una sección final se argumenta que se requiere una transición socioecológica profunda –hacia una economía que no necesite del crecimiento tanto como el capitalismo–. In this article it is argued that the multidimensional und intertwined character of the recent global crisis is founded in the tension between a social system based on infinite economic expansion and a biosphere with finite boundaries, a tension which is inherent in the capitalist formation. In a first step of argumentation limits of capitalist accumulation are discussed with regard to a development paradigm which depends on an increasing extraction of fossil fuels and other natural resources. In a second step it is debated whether a “greening of the economy” might contribute to solve the epochal crisis of capitalism. Finally, some policy areas are identified where public investment at least could help to further a socially just and environmentally sustainable future. However, progressive ´green policies´ in areas such as solid waste management or agriculture will not be sufficient to address the epochal crisis of capitalism. In a concluding section it is argued that a more profound socio-ecological transition is required –towards an economy that does not require growth that much as capitalism does while at the same time react on the class war from the top–.
