| Resumen / Abstract : | En el presente trabajo se argumenta que la democracia como régimen político presenta algunos inconvenientes intrínsecos que dificultan la participación de todos los ciudadanos en la toma de las decisiones colectivas. Se muestran los principales desarrollos hechos al respecto por la ciencia política contemporánea (principalmente por la disciplina de la elección social y por el enfoque del institucionalismo) y se propone que las fallas inherentes al planteamiento democrático sugieren considerar con cautela la permanencia indefinida de dicho régimen en nuestra región y en otras regiones del mundo. Through this paper it is claimed that democracy as a political regime presents several intrinsic drawbacks which hinders citizen participation in collective decision making. The main developments regarding this issue by contemporary political science (basically within the subject of social choice and the approach of institutionalism) are shown, and it is proposed that the inherent faults to the democratic scheme suggest a cautious consideration on the indefinite permanence of such regime in both our region and in other regions around the globe. |
