dc.description	El presente trabajo problematiza la idea de un reciente “giro a la izquierda” de los gobiernos de la región. Sin menospreciar los cambios efectivos que el nuevo siglo ha traído, entendemos que la caracterización de estos gobiernos como de izquierda es inadecuada: existen diversas limitaciones para diferenciarse de otros tipos de gobiernos contemporáneos. Para dar cuenta de esta idea se revisan criterios establecidos por la literatura sobre el tema y se analizan algunos indicadores económicos. Se proponen, además, distinciones entre los gobiernos considerados de izquierda.	es_EC
dc.description	This paper analyzes the idea of a recent "left turn" of Latin America governments. Even though the new century has brought some actual changes, we understand that the characterization of these governments as leftist is quite inadequate: indeed there are several limitations to differentiate them from other types of contemporary governments. To account for this idea, we have pointed out the criteria established by the literature on the subject, and discuss it by using some economic indicators. The paper also proposes some distinctions between governments considered leftist.	es_EC
