Rock’n’roll was born from the blues in the fifties in the United States of America. In turn, the Blues emerged from work songs, field hollers, and spirituals, sang by slaves in southern plantations of that Country to embody prayers, moans and desire for freedom, while working until they broke their souls. At mid-fifties, Chuck Berry and Little Richard invented rock and roll; however it was a white guy, Elvis Presley, who became “the King” singing black music for a white market. Nevertheless, in the late fifties this music declined in the United States while in Britain emerged, from the blues as well, a more transcendent rhythm, with the status of art, and that would spread worldwide transformed into a commodity. However, rock’n’roll was able to maintain its authenticity, its aura.
