dc.description This thesis will analyze the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and how its use of executive action to delay deportation of this specific group of undocumented immigrants fits into the securitist immigration policy implemented by the Obama administration. It seeks to understand the apparent contradiction between the adoption of DACA and the increase in migration control measures during Obama’s two terms as president of the US, between 2009 and 2016. In order to achieve this goal, this work takes into account the historic and political context surrounding immigration issues immediately before and during Obama’s administration, including his failed campaign promise of comprehensive immigration reform. es_ES
