Description
El objeto de este trabajo es el análisis de la nueva estructura de la industria farmacéutica mundial, con epicentro en los Estados Unidos, en la que las revoluciones de la biología molecular y la ocurrencia de cambios institucionales mayores han posibilitado el desarrollo de una complementariedad entre las finanzas y la emergencia del nuevo paradigma biotecnológico. Más allá de la generación de burbujas financieras sustentadas en la generación de nuevas promesas de la biotecnología, la nueva configuración institucional presenta límites que se reflejan en la dificultad de recuperar la productividad de la investigación y desarrollo. En este marco, se discute si se abren ventanas de oportunidad para los países semi industrializados como la Argentina frente a las dificultades que enfrentan en la difusión de la biotecnología los sistemas de innovación de los países centrales.
The object of this paper is the new structure of global pharmaceutical industry, which has its core in the United States, where molecular revolutions and major institutional changes enabled the development of a new kind complementarity between finances and new biotechnological paradigm. Beyond the genomic bubbles based on biotechnology promises, this new institutional configuration presents limits to Research and Development productivity recovery. In this context, the article discusses if this new configuration open windows of opportunity to semi-industrialized countries as Argentina taking in account the growing problems in biotechnology diffusion faced by innovation systems of core countries.
