Abstract
Description
Is it possible to consider the Social Game Theory (SGT) as a public policy theory? This article responds positively to this question from a two-way inquiry: by looking at the main components of the SGT, and by looking at some historical and theoretical aspects of the Public Policy Studies (PPS), to finally put them into discussion, highlighting the fundamentals shared by the former with the latter as the starting point for its consideration as a policy theory. The affirmative answer is based on: a) the finding that the SGT meets the basic requirements of a theory, b) that it meets the criteria that normally apply to major policy theories, and c) that the explanatory factors used by these to account for the policy process may fit into the SGT.
