La muerte se convierte en nudo de significación de los grupos juveniles ligados a la violencia. La imagen del sicario colombiano, un muchacho de corta edad dispuesto a matar o a ser matado por una paga, es la acabada encarnación de ese universo donde la vida ya no se comprende como el opuesto de la muerte. Todo lo contrario, entre esos personajes lo uno y lo otro se funden en un solo haz. Este artículo, así pues, explora los vínculos de la vida y la muerte entre las formas de construcción de sentido de las pandillas de tres ciudades colombianas: Bogotá, Barranquilla y Neiva. Después considera el lugar de dicha armadura simbólica dentro del proyecto cultural del mercado hoy en boga.
Death turns into a significant nod for juvenile groups linked to violence. The image of the Colombian sicario, a young boy willing to kill or to be killed for money, becomes the final incarnation of that universe where life is not seen as the opposite of death. On the contrary, both dimensions merge for these characters. The article explores the links between life and death in the forms that these gangs construct their logic in three Colombian cities: Bogotá, Barranquilla and Neiva. It later looks at the position of this symbolic shield within the cultural project of the trendy market today.
