Abstract
Description
Based on a qualitative and diachronic perspective, the specific configuration of the agribusiness is examined, as well as its articulation and regional influence. In contrast to dualist perspectives, it is proposed the importance of unraveling the different articulations among a heterogeneous range of actors, including the participation of companies, agencies and agents of the State, as well as peasants and technicians. The study is conducted in the Frailesca region of Chiapas, southern Mexico. First, the configuration of the region is described under the influence of the Green Revolution. Subsequently, the regional change driven by the implementation of neoliberal policies is analyzed. They reinforced the previous productivity logic and led to the gradual presence of agroindustrial companies.
