Esta investigación explora la cultura del compartir desde la perspectiva del desarrollo humano y la equidad por medio del estudio de caso de cinco ejemplos de transformación localizados en la ciudad de Seattle y el distrito no incorporado de White Center, en el estado de Washington, EE.UU., enmarcados dentro de cuatro ejes culturales: el sistema de acceso a alimentos saludables, la vivienda, la participación y cohesión social, y la economía local. Transformaciones prácticas de la cultura del compartir plantea algunas reflexiones sobre la importancia de políticas públicas que integren, acompañen y faciliten procesos de cambio con miras a la resiliencia y equidad en más comunidades. Al mismo tiempo explora los vínculos entre el desarrollo humano y la cultura del compartir: de qué manera la cultura del compartir puede aportar al enfoque del desarrollo humano como alternativa para abordar la sustentabilidad ambiental y el bienestar colectivo; y cómo la institucionalidad y operacionalización del desarrollo humano pueden contribuir a que las transformaciones a pequeña y mediana escala de simplicidad voluntaria, reducción de la huella ecológica, e intercambio pueden convertirse en cimientos para una nueva sociedad basada en un movimiento social del compartir. This study explores the sharing culture from the human development and equity perspectives through the case study of five transformation examples located within the Seattle Metropolitan Area and the unincorporated area of White Center, encompassed under four cultural frameworks: access to healthy foods, housing, social engagement and cohesion, and local economy. Practical Transformations of the Sharing Culture reflects about the importance of public policies that integrate, support and facilitate change processes focused on community resilience and equity. At the same time this study explores the relationship between human development and the sharing culture: how can the sharing culture contribute to the human development perspective as an alternative to address the environmental sustainability and collective wellbeing; while the institutionalization and operationalizing of the human development approach can provide a framework so that the current small- and medium- scale transformations of voluntary simplicity, reduction of the ecological footstep, and exchange can become a foundation to a new society based on the social movement of sharing.
