El extractivismo urbano en la ciudad intermedia latinoamericana de Cuenca-Ecuador permite ampliar la mirada sobre políticas públicas territoriales y su vinculación con procesos de urbanización. El objetivo principal de este proyecto es proponer estrategias de análisis sobre la generación de recursos y; las economías locales y nacionales. La investigación se basó en métodos cualitativos y se apoyó del análisis crítico del discurso para ver cómo evolucionó la ciudad y cómo se comportaron las políticas públicas territoriales sobre el cambio del uso de suelo. Los datos analizados demostraron que el extractivismo urbano se da en toda ciudad o región y produce efectos positivos o negativos generando distintas dinámicas locales y nacionales. En conclusión, se puede señalar que la ciudad de Cuenca ha crecido con un modelo extractivista experimentado cambios en el uso de suelo y admitiendo especulación inmobiliaria como una fuente de extracción de capital.
Urban extractivism in the Latin American intermediate city of Cuenca-Ecuador makes it possible to broaden the focus on territorial public policies and their link with urbanization processes. The main objective of this project is to propose analysis strategies on the generation of resources and, local and national economies. The research was based on qualitative methods and relied on the critical analysis of the discourse to see how the city evolved and how the territorial public policies on land use change. The data analyzed showed that urban extractivism occurs in every city or region and produces positive or negative effects generating different local and national dynamics. In conclusion, it can be noted that the city of Cuenca has grown with an extractivist model experienced changes in land use and admitting real estate speculation as a source of capital extraction.
