El presente artículo introductorio propone un acercamiento al enfoque de la vulnerabilidad en los estudios sociales sobre desastres desde distintos abordajes contemporáneos latinoamericanos. En primer lugar, se expone sobre la vulnerabilidad desde sus primeras aproximaciones y se las pone en diálogo crítico con el enfoque de la resiliencia. La preocupación surge cuando se enfatiza la resiliencia de la población afectada como mecanismo de participación en la recuperación. En segundo lugar, se desarrolla con particular atención el aporte de los estudios de género y la reproducción de vida en contextos de desastres.
The following introductory article addresses the vulnerability approach towards disasters in the social sciences from different Latin American contemporary perspectives. First of all, the elements that propose a vision about vulnerability and its initial approaches are presented and put into critical dialogue with the resilience approach. Concerns are raised when the resilience of the affected population is emphasized as a mechanism of participation in recovery. Secondly, the contributions of gender studies and the reproduction of life in disaster contexts are addressed.
