A medida que los espacios públicos pierden su capacidad para articular y generar relaciones humanas, emergen estrategias bottom-up como respuesta, que producen diversidad cultural y compromiso cívico, y en consecuencia crean lugares. El arte urbano es una de ellas. Aunque se han estudiado sus aspectos sociales y económicos, su manifestación espacial no ha sido analizada a profundidad. Este trabajo apunta a descubrir cubrir esta brecha y comprender el rol del arte en los procesos de transformación urbana barrial.
As public spaces lose their capacity for generating and articulating human relations, bottom-up strategies arise as an answer, producing cultural diversity and civic engagement, consequently creating places. Urban art is one of them. Although its social and economic aspects have been studied, its spatial manifestation has not been studied in depth. This paper’s purpose is to fill that gap, and to understand the role of street art in neighbourhood transformation processes.
