Description
El estudio está orientado a reflexionar sobre los orígenes de la seguridad social en el Ecuador y de manera más específica sobre el nacimiento de la Policía, en términos de lo que Ranciere llama “baja Policía”. Si bien se toma como punto de partida el funcionamiento de mecanismos de control de la población en la Colonia el temprano siglo XIX, como dispositivos directamente relacionados con la vida cotidiana de la gente, el análisis se centra en las transformaciones de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y las primeras décadas del XX en el contexto de la modernidad católica y el liberalismo. Se trata del tránsito a la organización de la Policía como aparato diferenciado y especializado dentro del Estado moderno.
The study is oriented towards the reflection of the origins of social security in Ecuador and in a more specific way on the birth of the Police force in terms of what Ranciere calls “law Police”. Although the operation of control mechanisms of the people of the Colonial period is taken as a starting point during the early 19th century, as devises directly related with people’s daily lives, the analysis is centered in the transformations of the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century within the context of modern Catholicism and liberalism. It’s about the transit to the organization of the Police as a differentiated and specialized machine within the modern state.
