Abstract
Description
The objective of this research is to delve deeper, from a qualitative point of view, the link between hegemonic gender stereotypes of both sexes, in relation to the appearance of economic violence events at the material level. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight women, assisted by the Child and Family Care Centre (CAIF), located in the Cerro Norte neighbourhood. A close relationship was established between gender stereotypes, the sexual division of labour, the man as economic provider and the woman dedicated exclusively to care and domestic tasks. This favours the economic and emotional dependence of women on their partners, facilitating economic violence and other types of violence.
