Este texto analiza el derrotero seguido por los sistemas de derecho de las nacionalidades indígenas
ecuatorianas desde su aprobación en la Constitución de 1998 hasta la fecha y su relación
con el sistema de derecho ordinario. Con este fin se realiza un acercamiento a la vigencia de la
Constitución de 1998 y el de su implementación efectiva hasta el 2008, fecha en la que se aprobó
la Constitución actual. Se concluye señalando algunos retos a futuro que plantea el tema de
los sistemas de derecho indígena y su relación con la justicia ordinaria.
This text provides an analysis of the challenge represented by the legal systems of Ecuadorian indigenous nationalities since the 1998 Constitution was approved until today, and their relation with the ordinary legal system. To that end, we undertake an approach to the period the 1998 Constitution was in force, up to 2008, the year in which the current Constitution was approved. The article concludes by describing some future challenges arising from the subject of indigenous legal systems and its relationship to ordinary justice.
