dc.descriptionEl ensayo tiene dos propósitos: aplicar la teoría de la seguritización para estudiar la problemática de las armas livianas en la agenda internacional y, con base en los argumentos de esta aplicación, comparar las posturas de Estados Unidos con las de los demás países del continente, sobre todo los de América Latina. El ensayo no pretende abordar la comprobación empírica de los argumentos, sino más bien dar los primeros pasos en el estudio de la problemática de las armas livianas desde una nueva perspectiva teórica y determinar su utilidad para una eventual elaboración de un proyecto de investigación más completo y abarcador.es_EC
dc.descriptionThe aim of this paper is twofold. First, to apply the seguritization perspective to the study of the problematic of small arms and light weapons on the international agenda; second, to use the main conceptual arguments of this application to compare the U.S. position with the rest of the countries on the American continent with a particular emphasis on Latin America. The article does not pretend bringing strong empirical analysis to the conceptual elaboration, yet it ambitions to open a new space in the study of the light weapons from a theoretical perspective that has not been so far applied to this particular issue, and to judge its utility for future lines of research and theory refinement.es_EC
