Description
América Latina en su conjunto, se encuentra en una nueva fase de crecimiento económico que dependerá de cómo se sostenga un grado de autonomía política y financiera. De acuerdo a la CEPAL, ha ocurrido una leve disminución de la pobreza en América Latina, desde el 44% en el año 2002 al 40% en el 2005. Sin embargo, perdura la desigualdad social expresada en una inequitativa distribución del ingreso.
Otras manifestaciones tales como la precarización del trabajo, la informalidad, la baja cobertura de los sistemas de salud y pensiones, también persisten en este contexto de crecimiento y cambios políticos con gobiernos progresistas en buena parte de los países de América del Sur.
