El artículo es un homenaje a Jorge Fernández, fundador y primer director general del Centro Internacional de Estudios Superiores de Comunicación para América Latina – CIESPAL. Este documento permite rescatar y construir memoria sobre este importante escritor y periodista ecuatoriano. Efectivamente, la figura de Jorge Fernández es una de las más destacadas del siglo XX en los campos del periodismo y la literatura de Ecuador. Por ello el significativo título de esta antología "Jorge Fernández, artífice del pensamiento comunicacional latinoamericano". Más significativo si quien lo afirma, en su condición de coordinador del libro, es el maestro José Marques de Melo.
