Las siguientes páginas examinan los fundamentos teóricos y empíricos que permiten considerar la universalización de la democracia como condición necesaria para la consecución de la paz mundial. A través de ésta discusión buscan clarificar en qué medida la literatura de Relaciones Internacionales proporciona un argumento consistente concerniente al vínculo entre la construcción de la paz internacional y la promoción del modelo democrático como sistema predominante de organización de los Estados.
