Una somera revisión de las investigaciones empíricas de las ruralidades latinoamericanas hace posible identificar cuatro principales procesos de transformación de los territorios rurales latinoamericanos a inicios del siglo XXI: los procesos liderados por ‘agronegocios’, los procesos donde predomina la ‘agricultura familiar’, los procesos de diversificación de actividades productivas y de fuentes de ingreso en gran medida articulados al incremento de los vínculos rural-urbanos; y los procesos que experimentan los territorios donde predominan poblaciones identificadas como ‘campesinas’ y/o de origen étnico minoritario (amerindios y afrodescendientes, por ejemplo). El objetivo del artículo es identificar las herramientas teóricas con las que contamos a fin de explicar estos procesos, lo que supone tanto una problematización espacial de la sociología rural, como la gradual construcción de un enfoque interdisciplinario.
A brief review of the main empirical research about Latin-American rurality in the early twenty-first century, show us at least four different ways of transformation at Latin American Rural Territories: agribusiness headed process, family farming headed process, several diversification of activities and incomes linked by the new quality of relations between country and urban places, the kind of processes experienced by those territories where peasants or ethnical minorities prevail (native american or afro descendents as an example). The main objective is to identify the theoretical background’s that may help us explaining such processes, while implies a re-construction booth of the rural sociologist space dimension’s and the interdisciplinary focus.
