Se analizan multidisciplinariamente las representaciones que tienen de la naturaleza las culturas
nativas y la cultura occidental en el ámbito geográfico de la Amazonía ecuatoriana. Esta dinámica
socioambiental no ha sido aprehendida con claridad; en consecuencia, la gestión ambiental en la
región no sólo no es eficaz, sino que tampoco goza de legitimidad. Para las poblaciones autóctonas,
la naturaleza trasciende su valor intrínseco y sus usos constituyen la base de sus economías de subsistencia.
Native and western cultural representations of nature are analyzed in a multidisciplinary perspective in the geographic context of the Ecuadorian Amazonia. This social and environmental dynamic has not been clearly understood, and the environmental management is neither efficient nor considered legitimate. For indigenous people nature transcends its intrinsic value and its uses are the basis of their economic subsistence.
