Resumen / Abstract :	La ocupación social del espacio (para recordar la expresión de A. Lipietz) gravita como estrategia que adopta el capital en la planeación del territorio municipal de Tlaxco y su región, en el estado de Tlaxcala. Las actividades propias de los sectores económicos de la producción: agricultura, ganadería y silvicultura; prácticas extractivas de producción, distribución, intercambio-comercialización y consumo; industria y comercio; migración; crecimiento poblacional y desarrollo urbano, empleo-desempleo, educación, salud-enfermedad, y otros; son reflejo de la problemática ambiental en la región, debido a las diversas formas que adquiere la ocupación social del espacio. Este ensayo indaga si: ¿es el actual modelo de urbanización capitalista el que direcciona las diferentes formas de ocupación social del espacio? O bien: ¿es el desarrollo económico, tal como lo plantea la teoría de la aglomeración, el que condiciona a las diferentes formas de la ocupación social del espacio en la región central de la cuenca del rio Zahuapan? El objetivo se orientó al análisis de la planeación del territorio mediante el estudio de las diferentes formas históricamente determinadas de la ocupación social del espacio en el contexto capitalista. Los antecedentes señalan que no se han realizado estudios que tomen en cuenta a las formas de ocupación social del espacio en sus diferentes modalidades. Se concluye que es imprescindible la instrumentación de programas sectoriales que permitan mejorar las actuales condiciones del proceso de urbanización y calidad de vida de la población, donde se inserta el corredor Tlaxco, Apizaco y Tlaxcala. Social occupation of space (to recall the expression of A. Lipietz) gravitates as a strategy that takes the capital in the planning of the municipal territory of Tlaxco and its region, in the state of Tlaxcala. The activities of economic sectors of production: agriculture and forestry; extractive practices of production, distribution, interchanged-commercialization and consumption; industry and trade; migration; population growth and urban development; employ-unemployed; education, health-disease; and others; are a reflection of the environmental problems in the region due to the diverse forms that acquires social occupation of space. This essay explores if: is the current model of capitalist urbanization which directs the different forms of social occupation of space? Or if: is the economic development, as proposes the theory of the agglomeration, which determine the conditions of the various forms of social occupation of space in the central region of the basin of the Zahuapan river? The objective is the analysis of the planning of the territory through the study of different historic forms of social occupation of space in the capitalist context. Antecedents indicate that there has been no studies that take into account the forms of social occupation of space in its different modalities. We concluded that is essential the implementation of sectoral programmes to improve the current conditions of the process of urbanization and quality of life of the population, in corridor Tlaxco, Apizaco and Tlaxcala.
