Los factores determinantes del predominio de algunos países sobre otros se han ido desplazando gradualmente de la esfera económico-militar a la esfera energética. A medida que aumenta la dependencia de los países ricos con respecto a sus fuentes de energía en el extranjero, crece la influencia de quienes controlan los flujos de energía en el mundo. Es por eso que Rusia recupera su papel como potencia mundial: más que por su poderío militar, por sus considerables reservas de gas y petróleo. Las consecuencias de este desplazamiento de fuerzas son exploradas en el presente artículo.
The main factors underlying the predominance of some countries on others are being shifted from the economy and military to the energy domain. The influence of those controlling the energy flows in the world increases as the rich countries become more and more dependent on foreign energy sources. This is why Russia is recovering its role as a world superpower: not due to its military power, but rather to its huge reserves of gas and oil. Some consequences of these force displacements are explored in this work.
