El artículo analiza el proceso de conversión al protestantismo de los miembros de una comunidad
que brinda asistencia social a hombres, mujeres y niños de sectores urbano-marginales de
Quito. El estudio centra su atención en la incidencia de esta comunidad en las relaciones sociales,
prácticas, conductas y modo de vida de sus miembros, especialmente en aquellos para
los cuales la institución se ha convertido en una opción de vida como su forma de “servir al Señor”.
Se plantea una reflexión sobre el complejo proceso de ingreso a un nuevo mundo (que
no está libre de contradicciones) y el cambio en la vida de los individuos.
The article analyzes the conversion process to the Protestantism of the members of a community that offers social attendance to men, women and children of urban-marginal sectors in Quito, Ecuador. The focus is on the incidence of this community in the social, practical relationships, behaviors and way of life of its members, especially for those to whom the institution has become an option of life, its way to “serve to the Lord”. That takes us to reflection on the complex process that happens among the entrance to a new world (that is not free of contradictions) and the change in the life of people.
