En el marco del impresionante desarrollo tecnológico y, consecuentemente, de la globalización, se está promoviendo un nuevo humanismo sobre la base de una relación dialéctica entre lo universal y lo particular, lo global y lo local. El autor plantea que estarnos entrando a "una universalización propia de la postmodernidad naciente que, si bien procura la unidad de criterios y de valores, lo debe hacer sin negar ni ignorar las diferencias peculiares de cada pueblo y ello será posible trascendiendo los extremos del absolutismo y relativismo cultural, para asumir plenamente los conceptos de multiculturalidad e interculturalidad.
