Bajo la premisa de que el discurso mediático resulta capaz de incidir en la construcción de legitimidad de las políticas sociales, la presente investigación indaga el tratamiento discursivo de la Asignación Universal por Hijo (AUH) en el diario Clarín durante los gobiernos de Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (2009-2015) y Mauricio Macri (2015-2019). A partir de un abordaje metodológico de índole cualitativo, y de un marco teórico que tanto asume una perspectiva histórica orientada a reconstruir la relación de Clarín con ambos gobiernos como apela a herramientas del análisis del discurso, la investigación propone un recorrido por la cobertura mediática de la AUH. La cobertura desigual que la AUH recibió en función del signo político del gobierno en ejercicio da cuenta del papel activo que detentan los medios de comunicación en la configuración del debate público y en la delimitación de los marcos interpretativos sobre la intervención estatal en la protección social.
Under the premise that media discourse is capable of influencing the construction of legitimacy of social policies, this research investigates the discursive treatment of the Universal Child Allowance (AUH) in the newspaper Clarín during the governments of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (2009-2015) and Mauricio Macri (2015-2019). Based on a qualitative methodological approach and a theoretical framework that both assumes a historical perspective aimed at reconstructing Clarín's relationship with both governments and appeals to discourse analysis tools, the research proposes a tour through the media coverage of the AUH. The unequal coverage that the AUH received depending on the political sign of the incumbent government shows the active role played by the media in shaping the public debate and in delimiting the interpretative frameworks on state intervention in social protection.
