El actual contexto de América del Sur, signado por el fin de los conflictos convencionales y por la creciente
interdependencia económica, ha transfigurado los fundamentos de las regiones de frontera. Las mismas se
convirtieron en “áreas grises” o, aún más, en meras “zonas de servicios” propensas a la penetración de fenómenos
como el crimen organizado. La trata de personas que tiene lugar en la triple frontera compartida
por Argentina, Brasil y Paraguay constituye un concreto ejemplo del nexo que ha de establecerse entre la
comunidad limítrofe y el delito organizado transfronterizo, en un ambiente de desinterés de los territorios
de frontera por parte de los diferentes países del Cono Sur. Se presentará evidencia vívida de los lazos que
hacen de la población de dicha frontera tripartita, tanto víctimas como victimarios de la trata de personas
con fines de explotación sexual, a raíz de la vulnerabilidad económica, social y política que sufre la zona
en cuestión.
The current South American context, defined by the end of conventional conflicts, and by the increasing economic interdependence between countries, transformed the very foundation of border regions. Frontiers have become “grey areas”, or more exactly, “service areas”, prone to the penetration of phenomena such as organized crime. Women trafficking, which takes place in the Triple Frontier shared by Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, constitutes a concrete example of the nexus that is established between the border community and organized crime, in an environment of disinterest as regards borderline territories, promoted by Southern Cone’s different countries. Vivid information concerning the ties that transform the tri-border’s population in both, victims and victimizers of women trafficking for sexual exploitation, in the wake of economic, social and political vulnerability, will be presented.
