Daniel Prieto reflexiona en torno al pensamiento y práctica de Simón Rodríguez y Paulo Freire, enfatiza la importancia de la educación para la diferencia, comprometida con la transformación de nuestras sociedades, frente a un igualamiento (que no es lo mismo que igualdad) por exclusión y por opresión. Sobre la base de su experiencia educativa, plantea la validez de la mediación pedagógica que acompaña al aprendizaje; es decir, a la tarea de construirse y de apropiarse del mundo y de uno mismo, desde el umbral del otro.
