En el presente artículo se presenta el fenómeno de la violencia armada organizada a través de una perspectiva específica: el impacto que tiene sobre la vida de los niños, niñas y adolescentes, a partir de la experiencia de trabajo de la ONG brasileña Viva Rio. Para ello, se analiza en una primera parte cómo es posible que en contextos que no se consideran como de guerra, pero que tampoco están en “paz”, los índices de violencia y de muertes por armas de fuego sean más elevados que en los países en conflicto armado. En una segunda parte se analiza el fenómeno de la violencia juvenil y finalmente se ofrece una alternativa a las políticas represivas que son la respuesta preponderante ante este fenómeno.
This article studies the phenomenon of armed and organized crime through a specific perspective, being this the impact of the phenomenon in the life of children and teenagers based on the work experience of Brazilian NGO Viva Rio. The article gives a first look at the following paradox: death and violence rates caused by fire guns are higher in non-war countries than in countries in war. Secondly, it analyzes the phenomenon of juvenile violence. Finally, it offers alternative strategies to repressive policies currently used to treat this phenomenon.
