En este ensayo se abordan las distintas facetas de las dimensiones económicas del sicariato y sus autores — materiales e intelectuales. Al mismo tiempo se analiza la representación de este tipo de asesinato en los denominados narcocorridos y en algunas obras televisivas. A través del análisis
de los lenguajes empleados se busca mapear las relaciones de poder que, entre crimen organizado y sectores del estado moderno, se han producido en los últimos años. ¿Qué tipo de economía desarrollan los carteles de la droga y qué función cumplen por lo tanto los asesinos a sueldo que trabajan para estas u otras organizaciones?
This article discusses the economic aspects of drug cartels and the visual and musical representation of the so-called sicarios or contract killers in popular Mexican songs called narcocorridos and Colombian soap operas. The analysis of the depicted languages will be of enormous importance to the attempt of mapping the relationship between organized crime and the modern state. What kind of economy do drug-cartels develop and what is the role of the hitmen recruited by these or other organizations?
