En el presente artículo se comparan las movilizaciones surgidas a raíz de las reformas constitucionales que buscaban habilitar la reelección indefinida en Bolivia y Ecuador durante los gobiernos de Evo Morales y Rafael Correa, respectivamente. A partir de un enfoque cualitativo-comparativo y del análisis de más de 450 eventos publicados en la prensa digital, se identifican y clasifican los repertorios de acción colectiva desplegados por los actores opositores de estas naciones. Basado en los conceptos de repertorios y performances contenciosas de Charles Tilly y en los aportes de Donatella della Porta y Pablo Stefanoni, en el texto se examina cómo las formas de protesta –desde marchas, cabildos y bloqueos hasta campañas mediáticas y litigios constitucionales– articularon discursos de defensa democrática y reconfiguraron el campo político en Bolivia y Ecuador.
This article compares the protests that arose in response to constitutional reforms seeking to enable indefinite reelection in Bolivia and Ecuador during the administrations of Evo Morales and Rafael Correa, respectively. Using a qualitative-comparative approach and analyzing more than 450 events published in the digital press, the article identifies and classifies the repertoires of collective action deployed by opposition actors in these countries. Based on Charles Tilly’s concepts of repertoires and contentious performances and the contributions of Donatella della Porta and Pablo Stefanoni, the text examines how forms of protest –from marches, town hall meetings, and blockades to media campaigns and constitutional litigation– articulated discourses of democratic defense and reconfigured the political field in Bolivia and Ecuador.
