El filósofo francés Alain de Benoist dedica su obra Carl Schmitt Today. Terrorism, “Just” War, and the State of Emergency, al análisis de la tesis de que la Guerra al Terror llevada a cabo por George W. Bush se basó en las teorías de Carl Schmitt, con el fin de desmontarla. Según el autor, los principios que se siguieron en ella, lejos de fundarse en estas teorías, de
hecho fueron totalmente contrarios a los postulados filosóficos del jurista alemán. Las políticas de creación de un enemigo absoluto que se implementaron y el irrespeto a las reglas de guerra tradicionales, argumenta el autor, fueron
más bien “aschmitianas”.
