Para CHASQUI es una gran satisfacción presentar en este número dedicado a las Nuevas Tecnologías las contribuciones de dos eminentes investigadores norteamericanos: el doctor Herbert Schiller de la Universidad de San Diego, California, y el doctor Ithiel de Sola Pool del Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts. Ambos expertos se han dedicado durante muchos años a la investigación sobre las repercusiones de la introducción de nuevas tecnologías en países industrializados, como Estados Unidos, y en las regiones menos desarrolladas. Ambos conceden gran importancia a estas nuevas tecnologías, pero desde puntos de vista divergentes. Sus contribuciones cumplen, por lo tanto, muy bien con la función que CHASQUI le ha conferido a la sección Controversia.
