El artículo estudia el papel de las Fuerzas Armadas argentinas ante la emergencia sanitaria por COVID-19, tomando como referencia la expansión del rol castrense en América Latina en el contexto de la pandemia. El objetivo es mostrar que, a diferencia de lo que advierten algunos analistas acerca de los peligros para la democracia en otros países de la región, la asunción prolongada de esta misión subsidiaria por parte de los uniformados argentinos no ha revelado consecuencias negativas.
The article sets out to analyze the role of the Argentine armed forces in the face of the COVID-19 health emergency, taking as a reference the expansion of the military role in Latin America in the context of the pandemic. The aim is to exhibit that, despite certain experts having warned about the dangers to democracies in other Latin American countries, the prolonged assumption of subsidiary missions by Argentine soldiers has not revealed negative consequences.
