Actualmente, la comunicación, dice el autor, debe ser entendida como proceso y producto de diversas prácticas sociales cuyos componentes básicos son la socialidad, la ritualidad y la tecnicidad. Desde una perspectiva democrática, esas prácticas deben ser fortalecidas, especialmente en uno de sus aspectos esenciales: el diálogo y los "escenarios para ese diálogo".
