A través del análisis de tres prácticas tradicionales de la comunidad caiçara de Bonete-SP, Brasil (pesca, canoa y previsión del clima), este trabajo explora cómo el conocimiento ancestral es reconocido y valorado entre los boneteiros, y plantea la importancia de la adaptación para el desarrollo de sus prácticas en un contexto de “modernización”. La agencia y los dinamismos atraviesan la historia de la localidad, y a la comunidad que en ella habita. Este trabajo utiliza el trabajo de campo y la etnografía como metodología principal y expone cuatro testimonios de personas claves para la investigación, que llevan a entender las convergencias, las adaptaciones y un conocimiento dinámico, que desafía a las dicotomías del pensamiento occidental.
Through the analysis of three traditional practices of the Caiçara community of Bonete-SP, Brazil (fishing, canoeing, and weather forecasting), this work explores how ancestral knowledge is recognized and valued among the boneteiros, and highlights the importance of adaptation for the development of their practices in a context of "modernization." Agency and dynamics permeate the history of the locality and the community that inhabits it. This work uses fieldwork and ethnography as the main methodology and presents four key testimonies for the research, which lead to an understanding of the convergences, adaptations, and dynamic knowledge that challenge the dichotomies of western thought.
