El presente trabajo busca responder a la pregunta ¿Cómo votan los jueces en las Cortes Supremas latinoamericanas? Esta investigación analiza de manera específica si la presencia de juezas hace una diferencia en el tema de impunidad en casos de violación. Para este propósito se ha elaborado una base de datos inédita con las sentencias emitidas en las Cortes Nacionales durante los últimos diez años, y así – mediante el uso de herramientas descriptivas - se comprobará si realmente el sexo de los jueces influye en las decisiones judiciales.
This research aims to answer: How do supreme judges vote in Latin America? This research analyses whether the presence of female judges makes a difference in the sentencing of rape cases. I have built an unpublished database that reviews the rulings of four supreme courts over the past ten years. Using descriptive tools, I will corroborate what has been established by the literature: sex matters when sentencing.
