El espacio sudamericano atraviesa actualmente por una serie de transformaciones de naturaleza
política, ideológica, económica y social que apuntan al desarrollo de mayores niveles de autonomía
regional en su inserción internacional. La creación y puesta en marcha de la Unión de
Naciones Suramericanas (Unasur) es la más reciente expresión institucional de este nuevo intento
de integración de los países sudamericanos, la cual busca articular las distintas agendas regionales
que han adelantado los gobiernos de la región en los últimos años. De igual manera la
nueva experiencia de cohesión regional, responde a la proyección de los intereses geoestratégicos
de Argentina, Brasil y Venezuela, como expresión de la competencia por el liderazgo de
dicho esquema de cooperación e integración regional.
South American space is currently undergoing a series of transformations that are political, ideological, economic, and social in nature, which point to the development of greater levels of regional autonomy in terms of international insertion. The creation and launch of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) is the most recent institutional expression of this new attempt at the integration of South American countries, which seeks to articulate the distinct regional agendas proposed by the region’s governments in recent years. In like manner, the new experience of regional cohesion responds to the projection of the geostrategic interests of Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela, as an expression of the competence of the leadership of said scheme for regional cooperation and integration.
