Durante un año, desde el 2003 al 2004, he llevado a cabo una investigación de campo sobre el proceso migratorio de mujeres ecuatorianas en Madrid y Ecuador, dando una especial importancia al trabajo doméstico. El género es uno de los factores estructurantes en el proceso de migración, tanto para la decisión de migrar así como también para su desarrollo posterior. Actúa de un modo decisivo, pero también es cuestionado, transformado y redefinido mediante la migración. En todo esto juega un papel central el nuevo contexto social en España.
