Description
El artículo ofrece una reflexión crítica sobre la evolución de los estudios culturales en Ecuador y América Latina entre las décadas de 1970 y 1990, destacando el tránsito desde los enfoques centrados en la “cultura nacional” y la “cultura popular” hacia perspectivas de diversidad, multiculturalismo e interculturalidad. Se plantea que la cultura ha adquirido una autonomía creciente respecto de otras esferas sociales, convirtiéndose en un paradigma central para interpretar la modernidad, aunque también se configura como un campo de riesgos y tensiones derivadas de la globalización, la tecnologización y la mediatización.
