Manifiesta ha sido en nuestros establecimientos de instrucción, públicos ó privados, la falta de un texto para la enseñanza de la geografía patria; y el convencimiento de esta necesidad, el deseo que me han mostrado algunos maestros de que yo la llenase, así como mi propio anhelo de coadyuvar por este lado al adelanto de las escuelas, me han obligado á formar el presente Catecismo.
