Abstract
Description
This research is oriented, under the concepts developed by producers “of places”, how the relations modern and traditional, excluded and exclusive, cosmopolitan and national points of views are expressed at Condesa’s neighborhood in Mexico City. The theoretical framework is taken from the Alexander’s cultural sociology perspective; from Goffman’s experiential frames notion, and the concept of culture adopted by Geertz. The strategies used for field research were semi-structured interview and ethnographic description: the first one emphasizes on concepts, notions or ideas such as like zone, places, history, names, businesses and the esthetics of the place; the second one allowed us making a detail description of Condesa’s neighborhood. The sampling method used was maximum variation sampling based on gradual selection principle developed by Flick. This work is structured in four chapters: 1) Concepts and “producers of place”: cultural sociology theoretical framework 2) Condesa’s neighborhood, ethnography from their places, 3) Condesa’s neighborhood, and places of consumption, culture and entertainment in Mexico City: an interpretation from “dF de Culto” and, 4) Conclusions.
