Los riesgos que enfrenta la población ante el cambio climático son resultado de la combinación de aspectos físicos, sociales, económicos y regionales. El objetivo de este artículo es identificar y evidenciar la vulnerabilidad social diferenciada para mujeres y hombres ante los riesgos potenciales del cambio climático en México. La vulnerabilidad social se determina con base en seis dimensiones: ingresos, salud, educación, vivienda, factores de la población y dependencia de la agricultura. Se encuentra que las mujeres son más vulnerables en términos de ingresos y los hombres por su alta participación en la agricultura, lo cual desfavorece la adaptación y resiliencia ante los riesgos asociados con el cambio climático.
Population risks from climate change are the result of a factors combination of physical, social, economic and regional. The goal in this article is identify and show social vulnerability differentiated for women and men about potential risks of climate change in Mexico. Social vulnerability is determined in six dimensions: income, health, education, housing, population factors and dependence on agriculture. This research finds that women are more vulnerable in terms of income, while men are highly active in agriculture, which impairs adaptation and resilience to the risks associated with climate change.
