Abstract
Description
The migratory phenomenon is a complex and dynamic process and the people who live the experience of mobility between different countries and cultures make sense of that complexity. This research, carried out from a cultural psychological perspective, reports the structure and content of the narratives of pre- and postgraduate students from Colombia and Venezuela who migrated to Argentina between 2010 and 2015. Through the analysis of the narratives obtained from 21 semi-structured interviews, the study investigated how students make meaning of their experience from a local and situated perspective. The concept of "migration project" is introduced from sociology as a tool to understand the process in a comprehensive way, from the construction of the plan to migrate and stay in Argentina to the consideration of a possible return to the country of origin. In addition to presenting the structure and content of the narratives, the findings highlight the complexity of human mobility, which is narrated in a non-linear way, even if the reason given for migration includes a consideration of return in its genesis.
